Flying Air France round trip nyc-tlv (family of 6) where to credit my miles

Have a family flying, we fly usually once a year all where credited until now on united or aa now with Air France  which i don't plan on flying often where to put the miles?
I think the how round trip gives a lousy 4k miles, do children get, only in sit or on lap also
