Just to add, nurses and doctors traveling to Africa are absolutely not curing the disease. There is no cure for Ebola.   They are merely adding comfort to the suffering. IMHO not worth the potential cost of spreading ebola.
And how are cures found? Or diseases studied?

I'm a lawyer, I'm fairly good at finding places to "draw the line" and avoiding mental paralysis from not containing 100% of any risk presented.
I guess the point is who is going to draw the line and where will that line be.

Note that obama is the commander in chief of the army.

Answer is simple--the soldiers themselves don't want to spread it.

One little problem with this. The soldiers have no say in the matter.

So you explain it. Obama heads the armed forces-why is he having the soldiers quarantined but not the nurse?

Civilian vs Military. Also at this point it looks like Obama had nothing to do with the soldiers being quarantined. They don't even have a policy in place for this.

Will there be a point where you concede that this fear is not justified. What needs to happen and when?

How is the fear unjustified. Even if it's true that there is no fear of a major outbreak, these people have been in close contact with people who were infected with Ebola. Ebola had over a 50% fatality rate. So to me it's as simple as why risk even one persons life when you can prevent it with a little inconvenience?
If someone is altruistic enough to risk their own life than they should be ok with a 21 day quarantine.

Am I understanding you correctly that quarantine these soldiers will increase their survival rate if they are infected?

No, I'm saying it will increase the survival rate of people not infected by preventing them from getting infected. Isn't that the intended purpose of the quarantine?

Are people more likely to catch ebola from soldiers than volunteer nurses? I'm not sure I get the distinction.

And I figure if obama went so far as to intervene in what the states were doing, he'd also want to get involved in what is being done under his own command.

Got it. That is the fear I am talking about. So far we have two nurses that dealt with an infected persons bodily fluids. No one else was infected not even his family members that were in close personal contact with him every day. This fear is not justified at this point.

Its caution, not fear.
Until there is some reliable research done on the virus it is better to proceed with caution.

ok so even if there is no fear of a major outbreak, why risk infecting even one more person if it can be avoided? Yes, it's annoying to be quarantined, but the potential trade off is a lot worse.

Things are done in the military we have no control over. These same things can't be done to civilians because of this thing called the constitution. Just ask ant lawyer.  ;)

The government has ways of dealing with the constitution when it gets in the way. Just ask the president. ;)

Lets try and make this simple. As it stands now you have a better chance of getting killed by a car crossing the street than catching and dying form this virus. Should we quarantine all cars? I will again ask this question that everyone avoided. What will it take to quash this fear/caution?

When the politicians stop talking about and doing every lame ploy  to convince us how there is nothing to fear. ;) Once the PR machines atart churning, Nothing gets me more convinced of the opposite.
