so if the seller is amazon then it does not hurt anyoneexcept for amazon?
I've done it before (sticking items requiring paid shipping label in same box with free shipping label) and they charged me shipping fee anyway.
Aside from all that, Amazon shuts down frequent return abusers. They know the descriptions can't be wrong on every other item you order.
you opted to pay for your own shipping?
Yes.
FYI doing that makes a lot of damage to the item on amazon and to the seller.
What if it's sold by Amazon?
Whenever I want to return a item regardless of the reason if I chat with them they always provide me with a shipping label when I ask for it.
YMMVI've relied on this for the past few years, but recently, with some orders, I've begun having the shipping charges deducted from my returns and I've been needing to chat a second time to get those charges refunded.
can I ship an item without free return shipping together with the free return?
I've done that successfully many times. I just create the return first on Amazon (using "I'll pay and ship") and put the return bar code in with the package - obviously, only if the return warehouses are the same.
theres no option for me to pay shipping. and using even a ups dropoff will only get me a minimal refund.
Chat/call them and they'll either generate an "I'll pay and ship" label, or give you a pre-paid one.
