If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:

Quote
GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

Wait, try this:
Uninstall and remove all HP printer software/device.  Then try installing with: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PIW
So finally got back to this laptop.

This seems to have resolved the problem. TYSM!!
CPU was able to find the printer on the network and connect. Gonna try a test print soon.

Seems like everyone is having problems with Windows 10.
I have had the exact opposite experience. Once loading it on (the only problem I had was getting it on, but that was because of Windows 8) my laptop (that I bought from a fellow ddfer for $85) which was so slow some programs couldn't load, now works perfectly (abiet slow because of the horrible processor).
Need to get used to the new setup and dont like the search bar on the screen (would rather it in the start menu, and btw is there any way to make the start menu a list instead of tiles?).
I'm not who you think I am.

I am not loving the upgrade to Windows 10. First my screen and text were blurry. I played around with it for a day until I finally got it.
Now I'm trying to play a DVD from the Toshiba Video player and it's not working. It shows that it could read the DVD, but the screen stays blank.
Any ideas?
I know the DVD works because I tried it elsewhere.

Download VLC media player for free.
Windows 10 (itself) doesn't support DVD playback.

If you previously had Windows media center, then Microsoft will give you a DVD playback app sometime in the near future...

is Media Center something we might have paid for? Or did it come free?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

From Wikipedia:

Included with

Windows XP Media Center Edition
Windows Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate editions)
Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions)

While Windows Media Center is not part of Windows 10, they are providing a free DVD playback app in Windows 10 called Windows DVD Player that will be installed after the first Windows Update.

Already do :)

But I have relatives who have windows 8 who would appreciate being able to play DVDs without installing another app. Oh well!
