If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:

Quote
GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

Welcome to the Windows 10 community. Report back how it's going and any tips you have to offer.  :)
This is the second computer I've switched over. (First was an HP laptop, this one is a Lenovo laptop.)

So far so good. The first thing I do is hide the search box - an icon is enough for me.

I had to go into my (Synaptic) touchpad's settings to re-enable scrolling at the edge of the touchpad.

Also for some reason it couldn't find my network while installing, but I skipped it and once I got into windows it found it just fine.

Will post any other tips as I think of them :)

Re the search box, same here. It was like the first thing that hit me, how much space that took up. Re the synaptics, I didn't have that issue as scrolling by me is a 2-finger touch and not on the side of the pad. BTW, in windows 10 the synaptics has some really amazing features. I was in the middle of compiling a list over here, but didn't finish yet. There are many more cool things you can do with the touchpad.

the 2 finger right click is cool - thanks! So far the 3 and 4 finger features don't seem to be working (and on my HP laptop they are hit or miss - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't)

The first thing I do is go to privacy and turn everything off
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad (on the left) > Additional mouse options (at the bottom) > Device settings tab > Settings.
Over there you should have an animated tutorial for each feature. Just highlight each option on the right and you'll see the animation. Some of them have a "?" or a "settings" options when highlighted, click on it for more info or features.

When I click "Additional mouse options " I don't see a Device Settings tab - this is what I see:

Try settings under device info.
Then I get the synaptics control panel, which looks just like it used to

Is this the first time you did a clean install? If it is it has nothing to do with Windows 10.
