If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:
http://msft.gq/gxn/

Quote
GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

+1 except I haven't got into cortana (yet)

I like that I can see items from my google calendar just by clicking start.

Has anyone used the Mail app at all? What do you think of it?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Clean install means installing Windows fresh. Not an upgrade. An upgrade keeps all the junk from previous installation. Clean install means you install Windows on a "clean" computer.

I upgraded one laptop and I'm very happy with windows 10. I'm now about to do it to my next, only with clean install. Can anyone post the exact steps to take to do that, please?
TIA

Don't think that's necessary anymore, is it?

Instructions to clean install windows 10 on a computer which has windows 7 or 8.1 legally activated (or with loader):

Download ISO from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench

Put onto USB using Rufus:
http://rufus.akeo.ie/

1. Plug it into the computer running windows 7 / 8.1

2. If Windows 7, 1. validate it here - https://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/  (use IE)

2.1 Copy gatherosstate.exe from the sources folder (on usb) to your desktop.

2.2 Run it (as administrator) on your activated and validated Windows. It'll output GenuineTicket.xml. Save this on a USB thumb drive or something.

2.3 Then do a fresh install with your suitable w10 ISO, if it asks for serial during installation, press skip

2.4 Once it's installed make sure your internet connection is DISABLED/do not enable the internet connection! Reboot w10.

2.5. Copy GenuineTicket.xml to C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\ of your w10 installation and reboot again.

2.6. Connect online, it should activate.

Enjoy :)

Anyone noticed after upgrading that whenever you pull out or plug in the outlet the screen goes black for two seconds?

You can do a fresh install after the win10 upgrade completes, by going to settings > Update and security > recovery > reset this pc

After upgrade,  I cannot scan from my HP all in one.  print works fine.  HP Print and Scan DR found  a WIA scan error that it could not fix.  Any advice?

Reinstall the HP software with the newest version from HP.

I had a similar problem with Canon, and reinstalling the software fixed it.

After the upgrade it looks like my MS Word just vanished. I can't open Word Documents and I can't find it anywhere. Do I have to buy a new one? >:(

I found WINWORD in there but when I click on it Word opens for a split second and closes.
