If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:

Quote
GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

Yes. I have a couple options now.
  • Wait with the update for those good couple months.
  • Ignore the message and lose the videos with the update.
  • Somehow remove the DRM.
  • Get Amazon to resend me those videos in a format the will be supported by the updated technology.

Anyone else having major issues with wifi adapters in windows 10 keep disconnecting about once or twice an hour, and refusing to work unless the adapter is disabled and reset from the admin account?

Nope.  You switched to 1607 (anniversary build)?

Try running Windows Update until no updates left.  Then, download wumt ( https://goo.gl/F3z3xo ), search for updates, and install any available updates (especially if you see one for wifi).

Any normal way to quickly disable windows update on 100+ computers?

There is a cute workaround to set each connection as metered, but I don't know if that is a long term solution.

And these computers seem to not have gpedit somehow...

Download this:

Set Windows Update to Disabled.

(w10 home doesnt have gpedit)

or:
go to services.msc, set wuaserv to disabled:

Wow, this is insane !

I had something very important to do tonight on my stupid home PC. It's been an hour already of this cr@p.

I meant to do the metered connection thing weeks ago...

Does windows not know that normal ppl use their PC's and are don't appreciate the darn thing shutting down in the middle of nowhere??!!?
