Booked a flight on UA with TK miles. Was not able to fly and cancelled a couple days before the flight. TK charged me a $70 fee to cancel the flight and I was supposed to get back the miles into my account. The problem is that the miles expired! I did not know, and paid the $70 fee, and did not get back any miles.
Good to know for next time to ask before paying canceling if the miles being returned have already expired, and may be worth not cancelling. You can change the flight (assuming u can find saver space on UA for a different date), and pay $80 no show fee, even after the flight has past...
