Connecting flight baggage transfer
« on: October 03, 2014, 11:43:47 AM »
I'll be taking Singapore airlines flight to Frankfurt , arriving in Frankfurt at 10 a.m., I'd like to continue with Lufthansa flight at 12:20 p.m.

Does it make a difference if I book with Singapore airlines and pay more for a connecting flight or if I book separately which is cheaper.

My worries are if the Singapore  flight is delayed what will happen to my baggage if I book separately or even if I book with a connecting flight?  Will I have to pick up the baggage or will the baggage be transferred with a 2 hour and 20 minutes connecting flight.

Thanks in advance

They have an interline agreement. If you have 2a separate reservations just ask tem at check in to check the bags all the way to your final dest.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Thanks. So SQ with a 2hr 20 min lh connection should work, right?

Whatever would work would they be on one itinerary, should work when they interline.

What happens if I book my second flight, Frankfurt to Florence,  2hrs 20 minutes after my scheduled arrival in Frankfurt, and my original flight JFK-FRA gets delayed, and misses my second flight, what happens to the baggage?

Would United interline a bag with Aeroflot?
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

They may. Ask the ticket agent. I don't have experience with that.

United is discontinuing their thru checked baggage service with airlines that are not part of the Star Alliance.

What happens if my bags are checked in on a multi stop ticket and I don't take the last leg, I plan on canceling the last leg? Will my bags be taken on the last leg?

And can I request the bags not to be taken on the last leg?

Can I request the airline (AA) to

They'll probably offload it without even asking.
