Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

so you called us bank and said you were trying to load it onto a prepaid card?
Why not call Target and tell them your doing it as well?  Whats the first rule of DDF??? Next time say your making a purchase, cuz that's how it rings up on the card issuers end.

For a purchase it did work.  The gift card issuer was not really sure why it was not working for redcard load so even if I told them it was for a purchase if the system blocked it how would that help?    The issuer so nothing else wrong with gift card.  At Target it kept saying invalid pin so it seems the system was blocking it.  The main points here are that they said you cannot transfer funds from a gift card to another prepaid card(which I did not know) and 2)does the internal system block such a load when it recognizes such a transfer?

+1 I wasn't gonna start down that road, when I told you to call it was to ask why your pin wasn't working not to tell them you were trying to withdraw the cash.

Never told them I was trying to w/d cash.  They were not able to assist me and then asked me what I was trying to do

Did you try another gc load right after with a vanilla or even another us bank card? Perhaps it was the register or your RedCard account

Closing Serve or Bluebird to register for Redbird
« Reply #10887 on: September 10, 2015, 08:48:07 PM »
When closing out Serve or Bluebird to get Redbird, we have previously advised using a different email address and phone number because people used to have issues during registration and billpay...it worked using diff ones. Recently however people are reporting registering successfully using the same phone nr and email address as on the Serve/Bluebird account.

There's no conclusive evidence on this. Also--and this is the root of the problem I think--a few people have reported that the Amex reps have admitted to some recent technical issues in this respect, that is when you close one prepaid Amex account to open another, sometimes it shows still open even when it is not...it seems to work for most people but some have had to wait for a few to several days.

Long story short, use the same email address & phone nr for now, since, inconclusive as it is, it seems to have a better change.

P.S. Do report your data points though about this, it helps others :)

I have a RedCard. I plan to go out and buy a bunch of Visa gift cards to meet spending.

How do I get the cash out of these gift cards using the RedCard and do I need to physically go to a Target at any time?
