Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Did anyone 'try' to load with a CC with their new POS?

Yes. It cancels out. Just loaded GC's doesn't ask credit or debit anymore, goes straight to PIN entry. Much smoother load. System is qucker. Did 1k split tender very quickly.

Just went to target univ sq. Seems like everyone at CS has been told to ask if its a "third party issued debit card" and she said she can't make no exceptions. I've never walked out of target so frustrated.

If I bought an activated Redbird on ebay, is there any risk that the seller can access my personal info / SSN once I activate?

Thanks

Tlarget no longer allows loading Red card with Gift cards.  No third party ards, only cash or bank debit cards.
It was nice while it lasted.
Any suggestions for best way to unload a bunch of GCs?

You buy one that has a pin and tell them it's a bank issued debit card
I'm not who you think I am.

That may be, but the noose is clearly tightening. Not just from one store.

I'm speaking specifically NJ locations (In the more remote parts of jersey). I guess it can be more of a NY/NJ issue though, but even so, there have been reports from other areas... I guess time will tell.

T&C have not changed. More and more targets are making their own rules.

Unfortunately there's nothign you can do. They claim it's the new rule but when asked to see it in writing they say they don't have it. It's total BS.
