Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

T&C have not changed. More and more targets are making their own rules.

Unfortunately there's nothign you can do. They claim it's the new rule but when asked to see it in writing they say they don't have it. It's total BS.
They showed me the notice from corporate
You buy one that has a pin and tell them it's a bank issued debit card

Whoever this dude is he has been trolling this thread with nonsense posts trying to direct people to his site. If you're selling something use the GS thread. He's always posting regurgitated chicken little crap here gours or days after its already been digested. Troll.

Wow, it must be terrible being a thought in your head space.

My business when it comes to Redbird has been selling the temporary ones online, so I don't profit from making people think Redbird is dead, on the contrary. Unlike some other people trying to still sell Redbird on this forum and elsewhere after the news broke, as soon as I found out yesterday I suspended the Redbird sale (I still have plenty) on my site so people who didn't know didn't buy one. I wrote up that post to let people know what I know about it and where things stand, in part so I don't have to answer the email questions one by one.

Also, I never pretended to break the news last night about Redbird not working with debit/prepaid cards. In the first place I found out very late, as I stated on my post, so I couldn't possibly allude to breaking the news. I was just putting my thoughts out there of how I read the events of day in the Redbird context during its life. Sorry I didn't ask for your permission first though before writing up what I thought about it.

Anyone else try a cash load?

I was able to successfully load with cash last night, it was the first time loading with cash for me (no reason to do so before, this was just for troubleshooting purposes) and it worked the same way that the credit or gift card loads have, in that the receipt showed the load amount and the new balance on the card and I also got the email confirming the load.

Before me others had also tried and reported the same thing yesterday, on Flyertalk (prob on Reddit also).

Has anyone tried to make a regular purchase with debit just to test the POS side?

I think that the fact that some are successful at cash loads while others aren't is the biggest proof that the system is buggy and not intentionally omitting debit cards.

There was a report of a debit card purchase not working.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

If this is true, that would be a HUGE deal.  If its truly the case, the POS update may just being automatically processing debit transactions as credit, which I wouldn't put it past target regarding their hardships transitioning to EMV.

There was speculation that they are updating their system due to the new chip card regulations, and are experiencing hardships.

You take up space here. Tell me you're not trying to piggyback off this site's success.

REDCARD REDCARD REDCARD

Who asked for your thoughts, summarized or otherwise. We were perfectly good with previous 10 pages in this thread that said the same thing you did. And if you suspended sales, cut the link to your website and stop trying to generate traffic from your useless rehash posts.

If you want to sell something or talk about this product dying there are separate boards and threads on this site for that. Thats all I'm saying.
