Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

With the debit redcard you get, but you can only use it together with gift cards.
That's online, but in store you can use any other form of payment.

In store, definitely. Online, not sure.
In store only seems to work if I drain the remaining balance on the Redcard.

-1. Not my experience. Told them to put $5.00 on the RC, balance with a Visa, got the discount on everything.

Load $1 (or less), drain it when you shop, and on your way out, load with another $1. Rinse and repeat. :)

You can log in and see your statements. But only until you apply for another Amex prepaid. Then there is no way to access.

That's only if you applied for a different Amex prepaid card. Otherwise you can access your statements. It says so when you cancel.

when placing a target order and only using redcard as partial payment, will i get 5% off on entire order?

Last week Target refused to do that.  Only gave discount corresponding to the amount loaded to RC.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Unfortunately, now it's time for the Redcard to go away.

I'm not sure how it works and I wasnt there.  DW said they would only give 5% off on the amount loaded to RC and that's exactly what they did.

"Hello __________,

We want to let you know about some changes to the terms and conditions of your Prepaid REDcard® by American Express Account:

 •  Funding & Transfers
As of October 28, you will not be able to link a new bank account to your Prepaid REDcard Account to add money. However, you will still be able to transfer money out of your Prepaid REDcard Account to a bank account.

If you currently have a linked bank account, nothing will change - you'll still be able to add money from that account.

You can continue to easily add money through Direct Deposit, Debit Card, and Cash Reloads at any U.S. Target store.1

 •  Early Direct Deposit
Now you can get access to your money up to two days faster* with Direct Deposit. You can automatically add all or part of your paycheck, government benefits and federal tax refunds to your Prepaid REDcard Account.

You can also review these changes in the Consumer User Agreement here.

Thanks,

The Prepaid REDcard® by American Express Team"

does this mean debit is allowed again just no adding new bank account?
