Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

the way to activate the temp card is to bring it to Target today - along with your license - and swipe up to $500 with any credit card.
Then you go home/office and register for the perm card online. You can do up to $1500 in $500 per day/swipe on the temp card.
if temp card was gotten by someone else and mailed and the min $5 was put on card isnt that considered activated and now  i can go load 1500 a day until perm card arrives?
or if perm card was ordered that would deem the temp card invalid?

Gave her the red card said I want to load 1K, she said OK, added it, and I swiped the GC, didn't say anything to her. It asked for  pin, but said puch cancel for credit, i did, then i selected credit, then it asked me to sign (said agree to pay the 1K - standard stuff), I signed, curious to see what happens, she asked for card, put in last 4, it went through and said balance $800. I did next 2, same thing except no sign, just press OK on the "sign screen", and she did last 4 of each, then regular CC as usual.
Cool. Did you have to tell her to push cancel for credit, or were you able to do that?

I've had nothing but smiles and success at both Flatbush Junction and Atlantic Junction. Queens was good too.

correct, temp was activated.  You now register on line and wait for the permanent card.

have you tried the $200 per day/ $1,000 per month online debit load? Should make your trips easier.

No I haven't. Didn't even think of that. The gc can just be run as debit using the last 4 as pin?
