Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Gave her the red card said I want to load 1K, she said OK, added it, and I swiped the GC, didn't say anything to her. It asked for  pin, but said puch cancel for credit, i did, then i selected credit, then it asked me to sign (said agree to pay the 1K - standard stuff), I signed, curious to see what happens, she asked for card, put in last 4, it went through and said balance $800. I did next 2, same thing except no sign, just press OK on the "sign screen", and she did last 4 of each, then regular CC as usual.

I assume you didn't have to activate PIN on the $200 gift cards?

On Visa Gift...uh Debit Cards, the last 4 is the PIN. No PIN activation required.

Doesn't that depend on the bank issuing the gift card?

I thought I remember reading something that VGC load to Redbird as debit. But it sounds like in the example above they're treated as cc.

Loading Visa gift cards to Redbird can be done both as credit (hit X for credit) or as debit, (entering the last 4 as PIN).

But to load multiple gift cards in one payment, it seems like hitting cancel for cc load is the way to go.

someone upthread recommended to select debit as it's cheaper for Target and it's the intention, and it may prolong REDbird flexible access to us for longer...

Is there a way to load multiple 'debit' cards in one transaction?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

i believe that it's been done by DDFers.  Another question is: Are there any ATMs in Target where we can do this (and not hold up the line)?

Can the red card be used to pay taxes online as a debit card? The Payusa tax site does not have amex as a debit card option. I assume that means that like the amex gift cards this cannot?

Not sure if mentioned, but if you are on a sub account with BB or Serve, you need to cancel that as well.

Not sure how they tell though if you don't enter SSN for family account...

Is there a total load limit of $1500 on a temporary card even if it's been registered (and you're just waiting for the permanent card to arrive)?
Just to clarify, does this $1500 load limit mean that if you've already loaded $500 three times onto the card, and subsequently withdrew your total balance from ATM, then you still can never load anymore $$ onto the temporary card?

thx

I loaded and registered a card with all of my info on Tuesday. I wanted to go load another card and register it under my girlfriend today. Can I go to target and put in just my info again and then at home register it under my girlfriend, or do I have to put her info in at the initial load?  TIA

IIRC you have to enter all of that when you register the card in-store.

By ID i assume he is referring to License. Did he mean SS# and DOB? It must be a NY way of referring to ID, because if you go somewhere and they ID you, your license is what they are referring to, not your whole existence lol.

I did it over a month ago, it's getting hazy now :D but I'm pretty sure they wanted ID (license) AND SS#.  Not sure about DOB.
