Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Each Redcard needs a unique SS #.
Can I have 2 or more temporary redcards with the same SS#?

Not at the initial load, but it does for online registration.

I have a number of unactivated redcards. How many can I activate at 1 a day?

I'm not sure if you can do more than 1 a day, but when you're loading the card for the first time at the register you can use the same EXACT info for each card load, BUT once you go to register them online each card will have to have a different SS#/Owner

That means I can spend $1500 on each of the cards and just actually register 1 of them online. Great. How many cards do you think I can activate with my own SS# without raising a flag?

But if I'm not mistaken, you do need to register the card to actually use it. So, if you're going to load more than 1 then at some point you're going to want to activate it in order to get that money off of it. I say this because, when you register online they ask you to set a PIN#, which means it doesn't have one initially.

Not sure about how many you can intially load under just your SS#. Given the fact that I was able to load them under the same SS#, I would assume it's more of a Target pre-screening for the sale of Pre-paid cards in general, rather than a system to prevent more than 1 person from buying so many. I could be wrong, but that's the feeling I get from it. BUT AS WITH ANYTHING DDF OR OTHERWISE USE DISCRETION/COMMON SENSE AND DON'T ABUSE/RUIN IT . Also, both times I loaded the Target employees seemed like they knew what info the machine would ask and how exactly it should be filled it, so my guess is that all pre-paid cards go through that process. I note this because, I am in NY, where these redcards aren't sold, so for them to walk me through the steps without that Target carrying that specific redcard means they go through it all the time.

Hope all that made sense and helps.

OK - good to know! I wrote $500per swipe -- figuring that on Day 2 they can do 2 $500 swipes. Yes, if $1000 can be done at once that's great,
however they do not let you access or send money until the perm card has arrived, correct?
I did 1,500 in one day

I would activate a number of cards on different days, different cashiers.

Buying is by the cashier, activating is done online. Only one card can be activated per SS#.

Activating is at a cashier.  Registering is at home on the computer with a unique SS#.

Yes.  I would be activating the cards at the cashier for only temporary cards WITHOUT registering them online.

I'll ask again, ask my question above was not answered.  Got a prepaid card, in store used my SS.  Tried to activate under my son's info.  Unfortunately during activation I tried to use email that is active for serve.  Didn't go through.  Finally used a different email.  Got message more info needed.  Email never arrived.  I don't live in an area where redbird is sold so I can't just pop down and get another one.  Any way to salvage the temp card I have?

Weirdly I just got an email from them and it is from the Amex serve team.  If should be from Target, no?  Definitely was NOT on the serve site when I tried to activate the card.

I went to target to load my RedBird and AFT and got 2 $20% off coupons today. You need to spend $75+ today at target to get the coupon. The coupon is valid from 12/7 to 12/13.

Enjoy.

Can funds be loaded through a "subaccount" card? Or only primary?

If I made the in-store activation under my name; and didn't yet register online to a different name, can I do another in-store card activation under my name? In other words: is the problem of having 2 cards under the same name/ss only for online registration? or even for in-store activation?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Ok.  Tried to follow the link from their email (goes to the serve site) but it doesn't recognize the email/password I used when registering for Redbird.  Tried to click on "forgot my password" thinking maybe I wrote it down wrong but the website does not recognize the email I registered with (although the email with the link did come to that email address).
