Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

I understand. How does my friend walk out of the store with it? He scans it at a register first? Does it cost money?

AFAIK, it depends on what the front of the packaging shows. If it shows the fee as $0  then it's free (of course lol), but if it says $5.00 then they should probably have it scanned. For the free ones, your friend can and should ask if he can have them (try for a few at time). Maybe they can say their gifts that his family members will activate at stores close to their homes or their for employees who will activate them later, or something else that's clever. Either way I think there should be some sort of communication with an employee before they walk out the store with them.

Someone else feel free to chime in if I've said anything wrong, but that's what I've grasped from following the thread.

I purchased and loaded $500 today. I then registered the card. Does anyone have experience going back the same day of the initial purchase after registering and loading more? Dan loaded another $1000 the next day. Anyone experience additional loading same day as opening?
Same day will work too.

Just got a hold of an activated RC from a friend. I have a Serve account right now. Anyone know if I can close the Serve account and register the RC both tonight, back to back?

So if someone gets me a red card in cleveland I dont have to worry about the "registering" part of the card bc being that it costs $5 in Cleveland they have to scan the bar code anyways?

So they just need to upload a dollar and can then give me info to register online and I shouldnt have issues then. Correct?
