Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Just went to target and it just asked how much you want to load so I put $500. It didnt ask for ss # or ID. Anyone else have this.
Was the card purchased (activated) prior to this?

I used my temp card to make an actual Target purchase (to save 5%) and the funds were instantly removed from my account. I then registered my temp into a perm and all was good. But then, I needed to return the items I bought and the return processed to the temp card (I can tell based on the last 4 digits). It's only been a day, but there is no activity as of yet in my online profile especially since there's no section for pending charges. I wonder if it even would go pending since the original purchase didn't but rather just took the funds out immediately. What are the odds that the temp card will be linked to the perm card for getting my return? Did I mess up? (We're talking $17 here.)

Yes this just happened to me as well and I'm trying to figure out if my card is actually activated or not. I tried it with $1.00 and they didn't as for SS# or ID and no it wasn't previously registered. Anyone know anything about this?

I have been in the process of getting REDcards for all my family in NY, however I think there may be a limit seeing as I've already gotten many, one per day as allowed, and today when I tried to purchase another one it wouldn't allow me to purchase the card. Anyone else in a REDcard selling state have an issue getting multiple cards?
Read the wiki. One temp card activation per ssn per day

Thats not the issue here. As mentioned, it was one done as one per day.

But at some point it stopped allowing more.

Is there a age minimum to register a account. I already have a card for me and my wife. Can I sign up my 3 year old for a card ?
Says 18 and over. If you try, please let me know. I'm in NY so I can't get easily. If I was in Red state I'd load a dollar and try

Yea, happened to me last night as well.... But I actually did it with $500, and when I went to register it I got an error message. I called CS they told me the card was never activated, and yet somehow it has a $500 balance. I need to call the resolutions team when they open at 10 today.

Yes!  Had the same issue. Brand new, unactivated cards. When I went to activate them, the cashier scanned the package. Instead of walking through the activation routine, the system asked for an amount. I tried with two inactivated cards.  I'm going to try at a different target. Very strange.

Yes, same thing happened to me yesterday. Essentially the rep charged me a $500 purchase price for the card.  If the Target system doesn't recognize the product it just prompts the cashier to enter a purchase amount.  I noticed that I wasn't promoted for DL or SSN and the receipt looked like a regular purchase so I brought it to customer service immediately and they refunded the $500 but the redbird was fried.

What location did you try. Perhaps your beer off going straight to CS to activate.
