Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Me too, I hope I don't have to change my email...

If you are having trouble accessing billpay, first try updating the phone number that you have saved in your account. If that doesn't work, call customer service and change your email address to one that has never been associated with any Amex prepaid.

Following kangarruu's advice, I looked at my profile on Redcard, and my phone number didn't have an area code for some reason. I updated my phone number and Bill Pay now works. I am using the same email that I had for bb.

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked. If I have someone buying a red card for me can they give my SS, DOB and number but scan their license or does the scanned license have to belong to the SS number? TIA

can be any ss#. It doesnt make a difference. DL and SS# cannot be verified by Target. All they verify is if you have purchased with the same ss# on the same day. If not, you are good to go. Again, any DL with any SS# will work when purchasing and activating in store as long as you didnt purchase using the same ss# that day. SS# is a factor only when you register after purchase and activation. You are allowed only one registered card per ss#.

So has anyone actually had a good and consistent experience with using RC to pay for your mortgage? I am hearing from diff ppl that either the "pay your bill" isnt working or that the mtge rejected it. Can anyone with experience in doing this report? Thanks

(I have looked into Evolve but same issues apply there with only being able to pay 999 a month and possibly being rejected. Just looking to get RC feedback in doing this. )
Yes. Never had a problem.

No problems when paying the entire amount of my mortgage.  with RC, BB, or Serve.
I only had a problem when I paid PART of it from Evolve and PART of it from BB.

OTOH: Confirming BAD news. >:(
The Target at Atlantic/ Barclays Center (Brooklyn).  The cashier who'd never seen this before was unable to  activate a card for me.  They tried scanning both the regular barcode on tip and the other one at the bottom.  (They voided the transaction in between.)  Either way the register only asked how much I wanted to load.  Even after I told them, it didn't ask for ID or anything.
Come to think of it, anyone who's done this a few times and remembers: When in the process do they ask for ID and stuff?  Should I have paid the $500 and then it would ask for ID?

In OH, I first give ID then I enter info.
This happened to work out yesterday when Target was really busy. By CS they were able to swipe my ID then I was on my own and CS rep went to next register to help the ppl behind me in line. (I was done 2 min later and so was most of the line...)

If it's all under one social that's pretty consistent... Once per day every day of month is not an easy task...
It was with multiple made up SSNs, on several days, activating ~8 on each day.

I loaded today $2500 on my RC with 1 cc swipe, on the receipt and on my cc online account it shows a charge of $2500, but on my RC online account it only shows up $1500
Anyone with similar experience?

From Wiki:
Q: How much money can you load onto a temporary RedBird card?
A:  Maximum is $500 initial load, plus $1000 on a subsequent load. So, total is $1500. No more.

What if initial load was $1, can i add $1499 to it or only $1000?
