Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

How's the process been in the Brooklyn Targets? I bought my redbird off eBay and was already activated. I'm waiting for the permanent card in the mail.

Which target has been smoother? The target by Flatbush Ave or by Barclays center?

Are you guys going straight to customer service?

Are they asking a lot of questions or are they doing it willingly?

Flatbush Ave has been YMMV

They seem to be limiting amount of load and one card per person.

I have had better luck at Gateway and Valley Stream. Havent tried Atlantic Terminal but its supposedly better than Flatbush.

Thanks...

When you say they are limiting the loads... Do you mean less than the full 2.5K daily?

Is going straight to CS still the best way? I see in the wiki that the best way is to tell them to load 1K and then another 1k and then 500...

My question is... Why don't you just tell them 2.5k at one time?

Won't they know how to do it by making it 1 transaction?

They limited me to 1k load period last time I was there.

What you are referring to is the FT method. Its one charge of $2500 on your cc but three transactions at Target. Target limits transaction size to 1k hence the three transactions to reach $2500. You can try cashiers but they may direct you to CS. They may or may not know how to do the FT method. More likely than not they wont know as the card is not sold in NY and they are not trained on loading this card. But as always YMMV

I wouldn't even mind going 5 separate times for the 1K load. I just rather do it within 2 transactions. I'm not interested in building a relationship with target CS...

Is it risky by doing 3 Sep transactions on your credit card?

From what I'm reading, it shows up as a charge from target itself...

If you call your cc issuer, I don't see why their would be any FA

If you charge a large amount at any store it will get flagged, even if you call, unless you have a history of doing so. 3 transactions make it more likely to be flagged than if it was 1.

With all the hock and warnings about using VGCs at Target, does anyone else have a good way to unload many VGCs any other way?

And if you get flagged, then what do you do at that point?

Amex flagged my first redcard swipe for fraud even though I called beforehand. Then they only wanted to clear the fraud charge from my home #

You could probably avoid all that by listing only your cell # on your account.

From experience, I would suggest Abingdon, MD (3 minutes off I-95 at exit 77B). Don't go to Aberdeen, MD.
