Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

this is game theory 101... if everyone knew that everyone else would place it safe that would be the best strategy for eveyone to use.  however, because we know (or assume) that some people will try to go to the max we dont want to be the only people taking it slow so we go to the max as well. thereby ensuring that everyone goes to the max...

Yes, specifically Tragedy of the Commons

When I don't remember which card I've used, I can look for that transaction on mint and see which card I used.
That's one of the best uses for it, especially playing this game with so many active cards and rotating categories. Before RC every sign up bonus would lead to another primary card being used for a month.

Btw, for those who use the redcard for purchases at target to get the 5% off, even if you only have a minimal amount on the card, by swiping it at the register it will take 5% off your entire purchase,  and you can then use a different card to pay for the rest. IME

I highly doubt you ever get a 5% redcard discount at Starbucks in Target.

You get 5% off whatever you bill to the RC. I had them bill $1 and got $0.05 off and paid the rest with SBUX card. But I didn't get 5% off the entire purchase just for having a RC on the transaction.

Maybe you have to bill the entire charge to the redcard, and just not have it cover the entire purchase due to insufficient funds

In general, if there's a bill you want to pay that they don't have listed, you can input all the info and they will still pay them for you.  (Lower total monthly pay limits with unregistered payees, though.)

Can you load the RB using sub-account card?
