Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

I'm asking about after the "just try it" point. it can be done question is how. the same way in wal mart we know to tell the cashier to press action code 70, what do we tell the target cashiers?

Don't know if this has been answered yet, but I just tried activating my redcard in store & they asked for amount to load without asking for id. I swiped my card for 500 & they said it went through. What now?

you have to register your card online and wait for perm card... you can load another 1k on the card you have now but that will count towards your monthly limit of 5k

Yeah, you can't activate in a non-participating store anymore.  Basically they charged you $500 to buy a card that is now worthless.  You need to go to the customer service desk and have them refund the charge.  The Redcard is unfortunately fried...

First of all, since when do we rely on cashiers? Second, just because his payment went through doesn't mean that he actually got the $ in his redcard. I'd try calling the number on the back of the card to check the balance.

i understood his question to mean now that it was activated what does he do.... i'm now reevaluating my assumption based on the responses
