Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

only one person ever told me that the RC has to match the RC
Someone at CS once told me it needs to match the RC, when I told her that I sometimes load my kids' cards she said maybe it just needs to match the CC.

It's not really an issue with this CSR anymore now that I've been told the manager has to come to load the card - he didn't even ask for ID.

Today, for the first time, a cashier asked me at checkout if I was using a GC to load RC.  I actually got away with loading the 1st AGC and when I went to load the second one she asked if it was a gift card I said "it's a debit card"  she said "that's a gift card you can't use gift cards to load RC".  I told her that is just with Target GCs but she called over the manager who said you can't use gift cards.
Hopefully this is just a local issue and not a new Corporate policy.  Has anyone experienced this, especially as a new thing?

Tell me about it :) Are there instructions I can tell them on how to load it? They were willing to help, but when they swiped it their systems went glitchy. Thought it was a return or something
This may be a dumb question but did you/they try swiping it on both sides?  Most of the noobies I have tried with, try swiping it face up and I have to tell them to flip it over to get it to work.  Just checking.

Which Target?
Delray Beach.  And I have never had a problem down here until now.  They don't even sell down here yet AFAIK.

NC has had issues since the beginning of the program.
I know that Greensboro had some problems activating them... I didn't know there was still an issue with NC as a whole

I wasn't paying attention, but that may just be the problem :) do you think it's worth a trip back to target?

It's worth a shot depending on how far you have to go.

From this FT post it seems it's meant to be swiped face up... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24010709-post1904.html

That's correct  - depending on which side you call the "face".  ::)  IME the side that gets the signature should be facing up.

RC swipe is face down. CC swipe face up.

I went back to target, tried face up and face down and no go :( it kept coming up as a return. Is there some code needing to be typed in before swiping?

Report from tonight in Pittsburgh:

Well, interestingly enough, for the first time I was explicitly turned down to do the FT method. CS told me she would not do it that way. Seemed like she knew exactly what I was asking for and had been debriefed. She did however load 1000, 1000, 500 in three transactions which is the most important thing.

I went to a regular cashier after that to load my wife's card. He also flatly refused to do FT method as if he had been told specifically what it is and not to do it. He had no problem doing separate swipes though.

No.
Are you sure you have a Prepaid Redcard, and not a Redcard CC or DC?

Certainly, I've been using it in other states since October. Here is the first time I encountered issues

Valley Stream Target
« Reply #4639 on: February 04, 2015, 09:07:24 PM »
I have had issues twice with loading more than a thousand dollars at the Target of Valley Stream. The first time I just walked away and didnt question. The second time I asked and was told that it was an individual store decision by their (?security) manager not to allow loading of more than 1k a day despite that it was not a card policy.

A month ago I had an issue with Valley stream target and my sapphire getting refused. When I called sapphire they said it is because Target of Valley Stream is flagged as being in a high fraud area so large purchases will get flagged for that particular target. Once the made a notation on my card there werent further issues.

Westbury has a nice Target ;D
