Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

The only way to keep this redcard game ongoing is just not to make it  much noise about it in target.  Be very nice to cashier,  do the come with 10 cards at ones to load,  do it very naturally..  The game always end because about the people who abuse it and over doing it,  I have 4 red cards but I always do it very normal I'm not coming to 1 cashier with all cards..  You gotta use your brains...

AAYYMen. 10,000X. That's most important in order to keep this alive. Even if it means making 5 trips each month, otherwise it will disappear.

It just doesn't make sense if a person comes with 18 cards ( as one of the people mentioned the he keeps the cashier long to load all 18 cards)  and loading it..  If you do it you are the one to cause that the game will stop...

By doing that, you annoy the store enough to creat rules against it. However, Target won't change a program due to an upset employee.

every cashier knows about it. its not about getting to the bottom of it. its about finishing their market test.

loaded tonight at Howell, at cashier (CS was closed). She told me that they just (as in, today) started enforcing matching the CC name to the Redcard name. She had to check with the manager before loading my cards since I was using a gc. No problem loading 2 cards, though. She said there are fraud concerns with RC, hence the new restrictions.

In case anyone else is interested...

(D., please take a deep breath before reading!!!) :)

It wasn't bad. There were 7 people total: me, one other frum girl (who I knew), 2 other white ladies, one black male and one white male.

One of the ladies was a huge idiot (not the frum one) and talked about how her husband is a mileage junkie and spends every night reading about how to accumulate points, and how he sent her to Target as soon as he found out about the prepaid card and she does MS every month.... The frum girl said how she saw some guy from NY go and take tons of cards from a Target store back to NY...

Other than those two comments, the rest of the focus group (2 hours) was about how we use the card, what we like about it, how we would improve packaging, how did we find out about it, what we don't like about it, its association with American Express etc.

And we all pretty much concluded at the end that none of us would keep using the card if they eliminate loading via credit card

And of course got the $125 debit card :)

Theoretically can u load 2.5k via GC's? Just got the BA and sapphire and need to meet the threshold and I'm nervous my RC's won't get me over the hump. Need to spend about 7,000 in 3 months

you get 5k on RC a month 7k in 3 months is easy what's the problem?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
