Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

So you just say I'd like to load my card with $1400 and then just swipe 7 times?

No.not on a temp card.
Yes to the temp card as long as it's registered on line,
Than you set up a pin, and can pull out cash
My experience is that it not work.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

So just 5 cards? Does the have to input a debit of $200 each swipe?

Im sure this was asked upthread or in the comments on DDMS but cant locate it. Can I buy more than one temp card at once? I'll be in MA tomorrow and I'm more than willing to pick up a few if that is possible for myself and other DDFers

Sounds like if you can get them without activating them, you can get as many as you want.

I think that's only possible for the $0 cards. (They don't need to be opened up.)

Still don't have a clear idea on the best way to load $200 gift cards on it. Do I have to tell the cashier I want to load ex $1000 but with 5 separate cards? That can draw suspicion. Or can I load it like AFT and just swipe 5 separate cards without the cashier having to do anything before starting the transaction?

I told the cashier that I had $1000 of chrstmas gifts of Visa GC from work and I wanted to load on to target prepaid, I didnt have pins (still learning this game) and selected X so it would be charged as a credit card he took a look at the card and told me that since i didnt have the last 4 digits of the card on the back of the VGC i cant treat it as a credit. I let him know that it worked that way fine for my coworker and he called CS over who told him/me  it was no problem. did x5 $200 Visa GC and x1 Saphire for additional 1k

Please don't ruin it for all of us and don't tell them it's a GC.
Anyways just to clarify, you told them you want to load 1k and then you proceeded to just swipe a couple of cards with $200 on each? No need for the cashier to input the amount before each swipe?

even for the $0 cards, you cannot open more than one per day. obviously you can always walk out of the store with a handful, but that's just stealing.

Like I said, Im new to this, if you have any other tips (sincerely) let me know.
regarding 1k, the process was tell cashier how much, swipe, press x, sign and hand over the card so cashier can input something (didn't see what) and then passed the card back.

With things like gift cards we usually try not to tell the cashiers that its such, rather just play like it's a credit / debit card. This way they don't get any smart ideas to ban gift cards.
When you did the load with the $200 gift cards you told the cashier that your loading $200?
BTW when you handed over your card to the cashier he/she was looking for the last 4 digits.
