Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Update to the shutdown of my RC cards I discussed 2 weeks ago. I just got a check from AMEX, addressed from "AMEX Serve, Prepaid Plastic Refunds" (first I hear of that, whatever it is) paying me back the funds that were in the account, minus the amount of the chargeback. This is after having been told by AMEX that I wouldn't be getting the funds back due to "suspicion of fraud" (?!?). Now I'm waiting for a similar check from my other RC. I'll post a pic when I get a chance.

Here's the picture of the RC refund. Notice that it says Serve on it, not RC-but i guess it's all under the name Serve.

True-some people were doubting me when I posted pictures of the shutdown because the email referred to Serve, not RC- but there's no doubt they're one and the same.

Although I called both Amex and Chase before charging my cards for $1000 each to clear it, they were still declined and I still got fraud-protection emails! Any advice please? If I can't get past this I wont be able to keep this up!

IIRC they were doubting the BS letter posted on FT that was 100% BS.

Yes so it would seem...though I'm still not 100% convinced. I think it's possible AMEX did shut down a few people here and there, as some reliable posters on FT said they were shut down. But yes definitely not impending doom like it looked then.

anyone able to get the 5% discount applied automatically on target.com purchases? Thanks!
I was chatting with a rep on Friday trying to get my 5% + free shipping I wasted half an hour fighting with him! He saud that only Red cards get those benifits and I was using a "third party gift card" so I told him he was wrong and in fact I was using a target red card. back and forth he wasn't giving in in the end he said he'll manually apply it because of all the hassle, even though he wasn't giving in.
I was mad!

What are you talking about?!?!? When you use your card to checkout on target.com it automatically takes off the 5%. If you didnt us it to pay for a portion or all of your order you wont get the 5%. Did you enter it as a gift card instead of a credit card?

No as a credit card and it didn't give me.
Upthread there was already this discussion in which someone said that they compensate you afterwards for it.

Have you actually experienced this working?

That was me, a couple months ago. They told me that 10 days later when the charge changes from pending to posted, it updates to the correct amount.
The weird thing was that 10 days later, the charge disappeared from my account, and never came back.

I placed two orders last week and used the RC and the 5% automatically came off at checkout...together with all other discounts.

I do not think you can ask to put a specific amount on the RC when paying, but i have left very small amounts on cards, and when paying, it took 5% off.
