Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

I do not think you can ask to put a specific amount on the RC when paying, but i have left very small amounts on cards, and when paying, it took 5% off.

U mean when paying for something that didn't cost more then what was on the card? They have told me that I can't leave a dollar on the card and buy a 5 dollar item with the card. (Which makes sense)

i think upthread It has been reported that if you pay only part of your order it will still get the %5 off. Personally I've tried a while back and it worked.

From the discussions in this thread it seems like that works in store but not online
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

From my experience:
I only use targets official debit redcard (not the amex one) that's linked to my bank account.
It automatically deducts %5 by checkout in store and online, and gives free shipping.
The catch is, that online, if I pay for a portion of the total with target gift cards, and pay the remaining portion (whatever it may be) with the redcard, it will deduct %5 from the entire order.
In store however, it only deducts %5 from the portion paid by the redcard.

I'm pretty sure I've had it work online too.

I was chatting with a rep on Friday trying to get my 5% + free shipping I wasted half an hour fighting with him! He saud that only Red cards get those benifits and I was using a "third party gift card" so I told him he was wrong and in fact I was using a target red card. back and forth he wasn't giving in in the end he said he'll manually apply it because of all the hassle, even though he wasn't giving in.
I was mad!

It happened to me on Friday.  I was told the 5% discount and free shipping only apply to Redcard Debit/Credit cards.   He said the Redcard Prepaid offered by AMEX is considered a third party gift card, so it will not qualify for the 5% discount and free shipping.  I called back and spoke with a different rep, who told me that the Prepaid RedCard does qualify for the 5% discount and free shipping.  He told me to place my order and then gave him the order number so he could apply the discount manually.  I should get the adjusted amount back within 10 days.

whats the deal with splitting across multiple cards (for gc)?
When I went to load last week the machine automatically asked "Do you want entire amount on this card?" If I click no how many cards can I do in one purchase?

P.S. sorry if gthis was asked and answered before- as mentioned before I did not read thru entire thread

I told the rep then that it's not fair that I have to go through this to access a simple card benifit, he really isn't fair.

I agree with you - that's why I haven't ordered from target online since that one time I tried. I'm hoping maybe they'll fix the system at some point.
Was this a target rep or a RC rep? From my experience the target reps don't know anything about prepaid RC.

Although I called both Amex and Chase before charging my cards for $1000 each to clear it, they were still declined and I still got fraud-protection emails! Any advice please? If I can't get past this I wont be able to keep this up!

Don't use even numbers. Use odd numbers.

Thanks! Worked like a charm.

odd as in 898 instead of 900 or 1000 as most ppl use to do. It help with fraud alerts
