Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Damn barclays and their damn sensitivity to target large loads.
That and the inability to validate the charges through the app or via email link.
After a little training, you should be ok.

whats your point exactly ?!

His point is that his post didnt belong here it belonged in the JS thread about the (alleged) slow painful death of RC

My point is that people should keep the fact that more and more stores are starting to ask for ID in mind because I know many people (myself included) who take their RC and the RC of others to Target to fill up without the other owners of the RCs. Can be frustrating to go with a few cards only to find out that you need to come back with the owners of the other cards. Take it down a notch you two.

I actually went back with one of the owners of another RC, she had her ID and they still would not let me load, they said CC has to match also.

That's so ridiculous. Asking for the owner of the RC to be there is one thing, but why do they care who's credit card is being used?

I didn't read the thread but I did carefully read the wiki.

Can someone confirm that NJ has no participating stores?

No participating stores in terms of buying a RC. But once you have one, you can load it at any Target.

Its all good natured fun. Don't take what I, or anyone else here, says too seriously.
FYI my experience has been that only the Targets that are bombarded by DDFers are the ones asking for ID. The others want to see ID just to confirm use of the credit card. Once I've shown ID for the first cc used they dont bother asking for any further ID. I have moved my loading further from core NYC Targets and it works like a charm. If you have the time further out on LI, or off the beaten path in NJ or CT you will not have any of the limitations relating to load amounts, ID etc.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

Do you think this is only a tri-state issue? or country wide?

Likely limited to certain stores in high RC usage areas.

I wouldn't fly just to load. Unless it was end of the month and i had a lot left to load. But even then, i would probably just drive around.

I think it may be worth it for a DO weekend edition.
