Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Does Target/Amex pull your credit score when you get the prepaid redcard?

Data point: I just made a purchase from target.com, and got 5% off with my RC. It showed in the cart before I clicked "Complete Order".

Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Has anyone recently tried to load more than $5,000 with a credit card in a month and been successful?

Don't do it. You will be charged the extra money on the cc but not credited towards the RC

Datapoint: New Target in Linden NJ went to cashier and she was more than happy to load whatever i wanted. Line was growing so i tried CS. Was informed that limit is $500 per day per card because of "credit card processor issues". Have a feeling its YMMV and could probably do the max with no issues. Was just pressed for time. I couldnt test my theory.

Oh...and loaded with VGCs for the first time. No issues.

Lately this Redbird thread is full of stuff, but mostly of it has nothing to do with Redbird  ;D

Awesome!  Thanks. And, I assume that one does not have to link a bank acct to RB acct to be able to load, pay bills, etc as prepaids were really made for people who can't open bank accounts.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Thanks.

That is correct. It acts as a checking acct, as far as billpay and you don't have to link a bank acct to it unless you want to withdraw money from Redbird to checking, which is best not to do unless you have to, and even so not often or large amounts.

Does the loading of VGCs onto redcard go against the $5,000 limit?
In other words, if I load a $200 VGC onto redcard, am I now only allowed to load $4,800 from my credit card?

Trouble in amounts you want charged? Have you tried gcs? Cs or regular cashier?

They only will do it by CS and and all 3 have to match RC, CC, ID and its only one transaction per day up to 1k
If you think nobody cares about you... just forget to pay your credit card bill
