Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

+100 I was on the phone with them for almost an hour to no avail. Then I discovered the app.
Something wrong with their system I think. The phone reps can put in a big spend note too and it still gets you nowhere.

The app is the only way to do it. Otherwise you'll be on the phone with them 6 times and still get nowhere.

Not disagreeing. I have the App and logged on the second the charge didn't go through. However, there was no where to authorize the transaction which is why I then moved on and called them.

You sound exactly like me. I had the same exact experience, and I have a BB.
Here's the only solution I found:
Make small charges. The maximum is about $225. I alternated from 210 to 215 etc. I was able to do this with no limit. I was actually doing it while on hold with Amex. He came back on the line and said he can't fix it, but "Have you been buying your item with a split amount...". :D
Obviously, this can get tricky if there is a line. Use your sechel... ;)

Just got off with the rep she says it had to go through second security, I asked her why since I had called yesterday to tell them I was gonna spend about 7k in the next two three days, she starts saying " I assure you that now you will have no more problems" We needed to call you back on your phone to confirm that its you - which she did. SO the advice is to do reloads in smaller amounts - 250  x 4?

I went through all of that, and then some!
So, yes, that's my advice, but I would cap it at $225.

I assume you meant "No. Hammer them."
However, it's like banging your head against the wall. You end up with a headache; the wall doesn't.  ;)

I just had this issue today. Swiped biz plat card and got declined. This time the message didn't come up on the app. I got no email either. Even after calling in, and having the rep. on the phone, the charge was still getting declined. I just had to leave target. I have never had issues with Amex cards until this one. (Amex did give me 3,000 MR for the inconvenience ).

You called that in separately after the incident?

No. The rep just offered it to me. I said thank you, and hung up. I just hope when I go again, I won't have any issues.
