Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Was at a target in New York, customer service said they were surprised that the system allowed it to process the charge because they said it was discontinued in their store. Someone came in and actually cut up the card she said but she does not know the reason why.
An employee cut up a customer's card? And who said they don't know why-employee or customer?

I loaded at Midtown Miami (I think thats what it was called) back in February without restriction. You can search this thread and see.
I loaded at midtown last month it was a breeze no restrictions.

No. Some target spokesperson tore up the ones on the shelves.

They don't have them on shelves in NY, unless they meant the other Target card.

I loaded $4186 this month in Lakewood. When I tried to do the last load, the POS had an error, even before I swiped my CC. I called CS, and they said I already loaded the max. I double checked the transaction list online, and I did not load $5k. This was only one one of my cards. @Nitantnel told me he had a similar issue in Brooklyn. Did anyone else?

I was at a target today (in brooklyn) doing a $500 load (my 3rd of the day) and i got an error as soon as they swiped my red card... something along the lines of "cannot process card". I called CS and they said there shouldn't be a problem since i'm still allowed another 500 for the day / month and my account is in good standing. Must be an in-store thing... ?
eh...

Data point. I don't know if the manager, at target Brooklyn junction, just made this rule up. She didn't let me swipe Amex GC, even though it had my name on it.

Fraud alert (FA) when loading Redbird (REDcard)
« Reply #8789 on: April 30, 2015, 10:35:38 PM »
I wrote a post about FAs (fraud alerts) while loading Redbird, it can be read here.

Do you guys get FAs just with new credit cards or with older ones as well? What's your experience?

If it is unusual activity/spending for you, it will trigger an alert until it remembers your new sending habits.

No real reason. She BS'ed me about cc, or dc only. Saying that gc are meant to be used for you to spend, not reload.

Wait, are we actually going to discuss RC for a few days now or will it just be doomsayers?

So lately i've noticed more and more brooklyn / queens target employees ("Team Leaders" at the g-damn guest services counter) checking IDs. The problem here is that I have 2 RCs (me + wife) and i can no longer spend on my wife's (without her being present). Has anyone else been getting asked for IDs? Any suggestions for a way around this?
