Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

not a kasha. night shift managers may get thrown into the thick of things right when they get there. they will look at memos later after store closing when things calm down.

Would buying a SouthWest anytime flight the day before a credit card closes, paying it off the day after the credit card closes, and then returning the flight be a way of makeshift MS if Red Card is fully dead? I assume it would mean I need to float some cash while waiting for a check in the mail for the money of the return.

Never said it was a kasha or anything. Bottom line until we see a memo or have confirmation that its hard coded its rumors, innuendo, fear - mongering and spotty reporting at best. I expected better from Dan. The DDMS post seems like its concrete...when in fact nothing is sure until tomorrow.

For doing it once? I really just want to finish off the last $1,000 on one of my Amex cards. And would they shut down just one card or all cards with them?

No mention of it at my Target in PHL. Didn't want to ask in case it isn't going to be hard coded.

Figure out another way to spend $1000 if you can't this isn't for you.

Considering I MS'd the first $4k, I beg to differ. Will doing the final $1k with this method cause any issues? I don't have time to run around buying gift cards and reloading them, lol.

I said if you can't... If you can and have then continue doing it, at the very least it's not advisable to play with refundables... You can load 5 $200 gift cards in ~10 minutes longer then it took to do a RC load

I mean, I did the $4k with Red Card. How would the gift card method work? I've been reading up on it a little bit, but it seems like I have to pay for each one and I need to figure out which one is the right one and then Red Card still needs to be loadable with it. It just seems like more of a hassle than just buying a couple of plane tickets, and returning them. I mean, would doing it one time really piss Amex off that much?
