Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Take all comments with a grain of kosher salt.
Why? Kosher salt grains are bigger than grains of table salt.

And grains of sugar are even smaller. Maybe take them with that...

My target told me loading card must have my name on it, and no gift cards. Before the change they were super easy. I could load mine and wife's and brother's 2.5k each no problem without checking ID. When they told me, they said it was the new target policy i.e. they couldn't care less, but that's the policy. Eventually they got permission from the security guy (totally bizarre - I thought those guys were just physical security) to load for me. Anyways, did anyone see the memo, and are gift cards officially not allowed?

Just keep requesting that they send the email requesting the docs again?
Yes, generally takes a couple of minutes till the request affects the website allowing you to upload the docs

Definitely not an official thing (i.e. Target-wide). I did it just this weekend. You'll just have to clarify that they are actually Debit cards (they say Debit on them IIRC), and you have to split your $1000/$500 payments.

What's the final consensus on Staples GC's?
It has a pin? Needs one?

Do you mean the 200 dollar visa from Staples? The pin is the last 4 digits of the card number.

The rebate cards.

I believe Dan posted about this in DDMS.

Not rebate. $200 GC's bought with Ink. Can they be put on Redcard as Debit?
