Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

I just read in wiki, ATM is 750 a day,
How do you get to 50 in multiples of 20?
Also I was able to get 780..
Maybe max is $780... I was never successful in getting over $400, but it seems I should try again... (If $400 works and then nothing else, there may be fraud type alert on account, check your email.)

I haven't linked my bank yet... How long does transfer take?
Being that ATM is free and not difficult  to use, it can be in bank immediately, there is no reason not to use...

T&C explicitly state  $750. All other limits i.e. 2500/day, 5k/month etc. work. Im calling Bravo Sierra on 780. Havent found a machine in 3 states NY, MA and MD that will allow more than $400.

ATM near me only allows $400, and denies any additional transactions after that.

Its worthwhile to look for allpoint ATMS near you, it's no big deal for me to go a few times because there is one near a shopping center that I go to all of the time. Look in CVS and 711 near you.

per card, per day, on any allpoint machines. Is the machine in the Pikesville Target an Allpoint machine or some other company. I can tell you I've tried others as well and it doesnt work. Was in Pikesville last week and didnt get to try. Dont know that I'll be back in MD anytime soon.

Most sleazy bodegas in NY also have Allpoint machines and some of them have $10 bills so if the $750 per day was real then you could do that. I have one nearby in Shoprite.

I'm still not convinced about reports of $780.

My (dumb?) question is, can this Redcard be used anywhere that Amex is accepted? I thought I read that in the T&C. If so, is there purchase protection for those purchases as well?

I don't have any other Amex cards and would use it for said purchase protection. So far I haven't used it anywhere else.

You can use it anywhere.

Same reason you'd take out cash from the ATM.

My wife and I just started "the game" about 2 months ago. Only cards we have at the moment that get us anywhere points-wise are the Chase Freedom, Chase United Explorer (55k deal), and the Redcard. Not sure what our next move will be...anyone have any suggestions? (Maybe I should've posted this q elsewhere)
