Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Why should they?  You're putting 5K a month into your bank account that has a debit card.
Anyway it's 200 transactions AND $20,000 that triggers the 1099.  http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=45709.msg1027425#msg1027425

This is getting me a bit nervous...

http://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/2sc2xu/datapoint_target_redbirds_cant_be_reloaded_via/

Doesn't Target realize that if they shut down CC load, 99% of people will close down the card and go back to serve

Purchased a Prepaid RedCard and tried to activate it but received a message that I couldn't activate the card since I have a Bluebird account. The problem is that I closed my BB account almost a year and a half ago since one day I randomly received an email that $100 was deposited to my card...which I never did...and I was worried that my card info was stolen. When I called customer service to see what the deal was, they told me that I can't register the card since my BB account was closed down involuntarily and therefore I also can't register my Redbird account. Needless to say, this is infuriating as I voluntarily chose to shut down the account and did so well over a year ago.

My questions are as follows:

1) Has anyone had any similar situations to this one or have any good advice? (Someone is supposed to be calling me within 24-48 hours to try and resolve)

2) In the event they won't resolve the issue, can I use the card number and register it under my wife's name and info or since I already entered in all my info when I tried to activate it, that option no longer exists?

1) My BB was shut down in the early days of BB for trying to link a debit card not in my name.  When Serve came out I tried to register a card, but it wouldn't go.  so I called CS, and said nothing about my history with Amex prepaids.  Eventually the rep was able to  make my old crime be forgiven and open the Serve. ( I don't recall how.)  I needed a new email and maybe phone #, too.
So wait to hear back from them and if they haven't resolved it, HUCA until they do.

Thanks! That gives me some hope. Was it the BB customer service reps that you dealt with or Serve reps?

Which cards at staples can I use to load my RB? I can't remember which banks they have to be issued from. I have a $25 off $100 promotion on 12 different accounts I would like to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Serve.  I didn't bring up my BB past.  Although eventually they figured out that that was the problem.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Here:
Just tried loading a us bank mastercard gift card,  wouldn't go though as a credit card but once I called us bank and set a pin it went through no problem as a regular debit card.
Amex gc worked Np for me, just hit cancel (if you don't tell them to press credit 1st)

Yes. I'm trying an experiment tomorrow trying to activate a card liberated from one participating store in another participating store.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm assuming the 5% the rep was referring to is the staples rewards, which you don't get.

Cash back from the ink card or staples rewards account. And please don't talk to the reps about cash back.

from what i gather... they officially are not supposed to work but there are times that the coupons do work. i believe you may have better results trying coupons online. cashiers might give you more lachatz. I've never bought with a coupon but people here definitely have.
