Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Can I please get an update for the BK stores?

In one brooklyn location (IIRC flatbush & Nostrand) I went to CS, they told me that each CSR has a (IIRC daily) limit imposed by the manager they're allowed to load per RedCard. One guy was only allowed to do $500 "because he's new," another woman there was allowed to do $1000. When I went to the cashier they first told me they can't do it, I need to go to CS, but there was a cashier there who did it for me. (the remaining $1000 on the first card and $2500 on the second.)

My wife was in Gateway yesterday, (I think this was at a cashier, but I'm not sure, I'll have to ask her.) she tried doing the "FT method" but the cashier(?) said the manager doesn't allow it. She had to do separate transactions.

I don't know about Bronx Terminal.

I guess it's confirmed that the limit is actually $780

Did you take out from directly from target or a different atm?
And thats what i mean by no independent verification. He is the only one who claims to have done that. Many others use the same target and havent reported doing it. So go ahead and try but its been reported that allpoint atms will only allow $400 per 24 hour period. He seems to have found one that is either not an allpoimt machine or wrongly coded. A screenshot of the account history would be helpful to confirm that they didnt charge fees for w/d which would explain why he was able to get more.

I was using 2 different chase cards.
The daily limit is per red card, not credit card

Does anyone know of any all point ATMs that give larger bills than $20's?

Can we take out money from any atm if we don't mind paying the fee?

I think I read somewhere that you can only take out via ALLPoINT atms with RC.

You cannot take it out at other ATM's as per the website. Wonder if others tried and were successful but not possible according to Amex/Target.

Has anyone done the FT method to load one RC with a bunch of GCs?
Is there a legitimate method, or are you asking in general about using GC's to load?

So I just called them on the phone. Apparently there are 8 to 12 people per group. Not surprisingly the red card group is all full.  Good thing there are some women DDFers to add diversity

If that's the case, it wouldn't make sense that it's $400/day...

Has anyone done the FT method to load one RC with a bunch of GCs?
The point of the FT method is to swipe your cc once, minimizing the chance of the cc denying the charge or finding it funny that you have so many large swipes at the same store one after the other.
Using GCs does't have any of those problems/ possibilities.
So you tell the cashier you want to load 1K.  You swipe the GC, tell her the last 4 digits, she'll tell you $800 lsft to pay, repeat until paid.  Keep in mind that she has to input the last 4 digits, so don't get carried away using 25  $100 GCs. (Unless she's got no customers waiting and plenty of patience.)

That's what I've been doing... but it has to be 3 transactions to hit the $2500.

Why would it be bad that it's not diverse? Would it be the problem of the research company conducting this for choosing who to call?

Do you all really think they have no idea what's going on?  When you google Target Prepaid Redcard, almost every link that comes up has to do with MS.  No need to pretend people are stupid.
