Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Unsure why so many people on this forum take every offer/ deal to the extreme.  It's ridiculous.

Most don't... I don't (not even close)... I'll even do things like switch prescriptions to CVS and shopping to Target (no prescriptions since RedBird started - so still at CVS) and I hope others do the same...

Yes, this thread and every thread... That way it's harder for noobs to follow... At least those started after June of 2014 - cause apparently you're able to keep up...

Extreme to me means upsetting employees... That would depend a lot on details...

The Target Prepaid REDcard
« Reply #4930 on: February 09, 2015, 10:49:35 AM »
For some people MS is not a means to fly first class to Hawaii, but a means of being able to make it through Kollel with rent paid and bread on the table, or -- for others -- to buy one new piece of clothing for each of their children for Yom Tov....
This probably belongs In js but if you rely on ms for life essentials you deserve whatever comes to you. Get a job that pays more than killed or at least a rich father in law with one.

1. I work a salary job and several small side jobs to provide for my family and also consider MS to be additional side income. I am however aware that there are many individuals on here each with their own circumstances.

2. "Get a job that pays more" is fantastic advise to everyone and many people would do well to do so, but again, not everyone is in circumstances that will allow them to simply dance into a job that gives the salary they dream of.

There are many honest hard working people who do the best they can to provide for their families under the circumstances, but it's not always so simple.

(I have never gone on a tangent like this here before IINM and it's not something I intend to make a habit of, Im not looking to start a feud or a huge OT, but I was significantly disturbed by what seemed to me to be flippant disregard for the honest efforts of many hard working people, and wanted to point it out).

Just chiming in. It seems like some people have significantly boosted their monthly income by getting hundreds of thousands of points by getting RC's for all 18 of their relatives and maxing them out every month (5K x 18 = a lot of $) and it seems like they have the "it's coming to me" attitude. How dare Target even consider my abusing their system to be a reason to stop it.... Unfortunately this line of thinking, which is all too prevalent (quite obvious from this thread over the last week or two) will only cause disappointment to them when it ends.  Everyone should enjoy it while it lasts, and if it ends many here on this thread need to look in the mirror and perhaps think did i force this to end by abusing the system in such a blatant way...

+ The relatives should have got the RedBird themselves, and switched their shopping and/or prescriptions to Target. That way other stores would be jealous and get their own version of RedBird...

I think its about ppl moving from CVS -> Target. CVS will see its because they are offering this card and be like "Oh, lets start a Prepaid CVS Card". I certainly wouldn't mind :)

I'm not really sure why everyone is so bothered. I went to CS at the target in Howell and they asked me if I want to load 2500 I loaded 1k each from 2 CC no problem 2/6/2015

Same thing happened to me. I was heartened by the thought that Lakewood might be the next CLE (wink to Dan)  ;)

My theory with CVS selling VR's was that if ppl were going there multiple times every month (and some ppl multiple times daily), they would switch their prescriptions out of convenience, and CVS would make a lot more $...
Loss leader of ms --> prescriptions theory...
