Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

It's not so simple as you make it,  last time I told them that I like to shop at Target a lot I bought many things and they didn't let go... I got transfered to many departments till it got resolved
Say you just bought a few expensive computers for a business. How about that?

Yes they do.  But they are not allowed to let go this what is wrong,  on the redcard website it stats that only debit or cash

Guess that would be Fraud Services then, thanks again. Will bring this up the next time I call them.

Ding ding ding....

every time i walk into any store to load or buy gc or get MO, i say the truth, i am paying my bills.

Lady at my old MO spot used to think i got speeding tickets every day - (court system only lets MO as check option)

why is it there business what you are buying at target. lets say it was a very costly medication from the pharmacy, thats private information. as long as you didnt lie to them about your income and they can verify that you should be ok.
He doesn't want it to go from a mini FR to a full fledged one so he's got to make sure it stops where it is and doesn't spiral out of control.

If one can legitimately show that is what they are doing, why is it such a big deal?

Definitely easier than explaining $10,000 worth of futons for the homeless.

Regardless I don't think its a good idea to say that. Only a real DDFer can convince himself that Amex will look favorably on these things. IMO definitely do not mention RC.

It's obviously a YMMV situation, because i've done it when i was out of state and i didn't work (got CSP team to comp my miles b/c it was 'embarrassing' after I warned them ;)). Sometimes it's unavoidable, especially at places like Target.

Why don't you just say you're buying TV's?

I don't think it will just go away over time. May be better to rip the band-aid off.
I called an hour before i went to an out of my normal area target. Told them i am going to such and such target and plan on spending around 12k on my PRG. They said thank you for letting us know we will notate the account,  the account is approved for at least 25k. Swiped away 11.5k without a stop. Was able to do it at CS in peace no line behind me.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

Based on this info and what yuguy said above, I'll be calling CFS b4 swiping next time!

It definitely helps, though one can still trigger FR even with alerting Amex.
