Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

There are 2 Targets in Brooklyn. Are you referring to the one next to Brooklyn College? From what i experienced Target on Atlantic Ave neither allows cc nor VGC loads. So $1K cc load sounds like a blessing :)

My sister was unfortunate enough to try loading her RB with AMEX last week. She got the "N/A" for load amount, but her AMEX was charged the full $1000. I told her to relax because I was certain the pending charge would fall off, but like many others, it posted and her RB didn't get the funds loaded. She waited all this time, but I think it's time for her to make a move. I know many others have made calls to their CC and also to RB, but I haven't gotten a great sense of what happened since then. Any updates?

I ended up calling after not hearing anything from Target, and the CSR was very nice and said that they had had an issue with loads on 2/25 and 2/26 and that she would file a report and that they would follow up and deposit the money in about 10 days. It sounded like she had answered many of these calls.

Interesting: she asked me how I had payed and I played dumb and said my bank card and she asked specifically if it had been a debit or credit card, because "you have to use a credit or debit card (or cash) to load, nothing else will work."

Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Ouch :(
Gotta start using extra caution
Yes that hurts-it also makes clear that they don't like it (recall some people a couple days back insinuating that everybody's fine with this because AMEX is making money from the fees).

At least they wrote what he was doing wrong so we can make sure not to do it.

Well, from what I am reading one can definitely do things a bit different. Like leaving some money on, actually do some shopping with the RB at Target etc.
Work hard, Play harder!

That's not what I'm doing. I don't pay bills or withdraw the money immediately after loading it, in the same amounts that I loaded. I also try to load in more random amounts than $1,000 and $500.

Not necessarily-look at the comments there at the guy who said he does 750$ loads. It's more of an issue with keeping on loading same amounts IMO.

If you load the money in and then wait and then you get shut down you're in hot water with getting your money back.
