Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Fir the first time and I think on my wife's CC card where I am  the AU, The machine printed out a extra receipt where I had to sign. The load went thru though.

Anyone had to sign for the load?
Did you have to sign the screen as well?

yes always, you sign on the machine, than it prints out the receipt and for the first time it also printed  something extra that required  my signature

I've had that occasionally; I think it happens when the machine doesn't capture your signature properly. Nothing to worry about.

Went to my Target tonight (OOT). Got to CS and the girl says: "you're doing this to get the air miles, right? That's so cool!" Seemed like it was all gonna go smooth until both cards that I wanted to use got declined (Citi AA Business and CSP). Called Citi, they cleared it up in two seconds and I was good to go. Called Chase, had to wait on hold for 20 minutes, asked me a bunch of questions to verify that it was me (where is my car loan from etc.) and then she asked me why I was spending so much at Target and if I was buying gift cards  ??? Told her no and got off the phone as soon as the swipes went through.

Do I have anything to worry about?

I tried this 2 days ago. I swiped first with the Redbird for $8. Then, I swiped my Amex Biz Plat for approx. $12. It didn't work. I only got 5% off on the Redbird swipe.

Does this only work with GCs?

I'm wondering if it only works if you use up all the redcard balance first. the picture he had showed a redcard balance of $0 afterwards.

When I ordered my redcard I put down my college address instead of my legal address. Will that cause me any problems when I try loading with creditcards that have my legal address and not my college address? Will I have any other problems because I did not use my legal address?

As long as they are sending you a permanent card you should not have any problems loading whatever the information is on either part.

You might have issues, when it comes to withdrawing money, or paying bills. Officially the addresses have to match.

Thanks, good to know. Will I have issues changing the address back to my legal one once I receive the card?

How do the addresses have to match, when you can pay any body's bill regardless of address?

No need to change your address.
