Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

My Simon mall gcs just got denied in central NJ. On-screen message about card type not accepted. CSR surprised, said those are the same cards everyone uses.

On the one hand  but all the same I'm feeling:

Supervisor at one of my go to TGs says no changes reported to store management, but nevertheless it seems to be hard coded at both of my SoCal TGs.

Here is the reason I don't think it's a glitch: CSR screen used to say "No Target gift cards or 3rd party credit cards". CSR showed me the screen, and now it says "No Target Gift cards or third party cards". The word "credit" has been removed from the on screen message.

Wow. Multiple reports on FT of no success, specifically starting today 10/12/15.

Just to prevent the onslaught of posts about it being OK in the last few days, I will tell you that I'm one of the ones with an issue this morning, and I successfully loaded $2500 last night on a different Redbird (at a different Target).

In short, posts regarding today onward should only matter.

Darn, I hope they are just having system issues today. I loaded $2.5k succesfully yesterday. Should have done more.

Someone on Reddit reported that their Chase debit card didn't work either. Fingers crossed.

Just left target. - I initially tried multiple VGCs - kept saying "$0.00 load limit" or something similar. I tried a BofA debit card with same results. Probably some glitch in their systems....

All other prepaid cards are reloadable with true debit cards. The fact that true debit card is not working right now is somewhat encouraging, maybe it is just a glitch.

DROPR?
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

except that the (albeit unreliable)rep on the phone told the ft guy that it is cash only, not even bank debit cards.
DROPR?
its weird that they would stop real bank debit too, however the fact that the rep said its stopped and it wasn't working is somewhat concerning.

That's Amex speaking. All loads according to them are "cash." But it's up to merchant, in this case Target, to determine what tender they regard as cash.
This is what user agreement says:
(4) Cash Funding Sources.

You may add funds to your Account by (i) presenting cash (US currency only) or other accepted tender and your Card at participating Target stores in the U.S.

CMIIAW but I think the past outages wouldn't even let RB swipe at all. If i had time now I'd go and try to load $5 cash.
