Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Really? Did you actually read the posts? He got gold here compared to there. Besides that the bulk of the criticism was constructive here.
Yeah, i read it. Some people over there called him useful and thanked him. Others said he was right in his indignation, but that's life. Most told him to grow up, like we did, but in a rather less refined manner.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Both the comments and his response to them (curse words and all), were significantly worse than here. However, I'm not gonna continue to argue the point, we have already given him way more attention than necessary.

That's what i said. We both had the same reaction, but we expressed it in a more refined manner than they did. I think we should be proud that he understood not to curse over here.

LOL.
@NoonRadar posted the same rant on FT and has been beaten up there as well. Started a new thread there, in the MS board.

Don't see why this has anything to do with them allowing people to load RC with debit/gift cards.

Yup. It was all orchestrated by NR to get us all to switch (back) to Serve, and then need new Redcards when we switch (back) to RC, and of course we'll all buy from him.

Uh oh. Are we actually starting to use the red card, for what it was intended for? :o

Speaking about it, Target now does price matching with Amazon, Walmart and probably other major retailers. I asked an employee recently and do remember her mentioning both Amazon and Walmart (don't remember the other couple of names she said). The 5% discount might prove useful for big price items, especially for people that live in a state where they also have to pay state taxes for Amazon purchases.

Having said that, I'm still switching my Redbirds to One VIP Serve, for me it's not good enough to keep Redbird just for that.

If you want a 5% discount, can't you just get one of the other RedCards?  They have 3 of them:
* Prepaid debit ("RedBird")
* Regular debit
* Credit

I think they all give the 5% discount.

Why One VIP Serve and not the conventional Amex Serve product?

Maybe I can answer my own question - the One VIP can be loaded at WMT but the new Amex Serve cannot?

Cash Reloads:    Up to $3.95

So totally irrelevant if all I'm doing is loading VGC via cashier or Moneypass?
