Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Just got this email (on closed account no less), huh? ???

We want to let you know that we are making a change to your Target Prepaid REDcard® by American Express, and you will no longer be able to add money from your debit card at Target stores. As always, you can continue to add money to your Prepaid REDcard by using:

•    Your debit card online through your Account
•    Cash at a Target Store
•    Direct Deposit (You can automatically add all or part of your paycheck, government benefits and federal tax refunds to your Prepaid REDcard)

For more information about your Prepaid REDcard, click here.

Thanks,

The Target Prepaid REDcard® by American Express Team
Just got it as well.

Several months ago, I posted that a purchase with split tender, Redcard & credit card, gets 5% off the entire amount. It seems that this is no longer the case, as I've experienced twice this week, at 2 different stores. It took off 5% only from the amount on the Redcard.
Another little nail in the RC coffin... :(

This card is  going to die in May? Will miss 5% off and free shipping. I'd hate to waste a hardpull for Target credit card.

If my sister has the Target credit card, can I be added as AU and have my own online account  for all the shippings to my address?

There is a target debit card.

requires a checking account  with that debit card?  have to open a new checking account to get this debit  card and no hard pull? Might go for this if I can use my existing checking account and get 5% off and no minimum free shipping

If you have an Ink card, you can do better by buying Target gift cards at Staples. You can even buy egift cards on staples.com, but I found out the hard way that they don't necessarily email them right away.

But you do get 5% back (or more) when purchasing them with ink.

No, it connects to your existing checking account.

You don't have to open a new checking account? it links to your current one, just bring a check with you to the store.
no pull needed.
