Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Yep, I remember...

was good. The combo of the RC, the direct swipe, and the $5K per transaction limit at CVS in LA. perfection!

That's the last time I bought lots of new hand towels and bath towels. All those Target trips. They'll last us a long time.

Can loading cash be done at a cashier or must it be at customer service?

Can checks be deposited to the account (as you can do with Bluebird)?

I used to be able to get redcard 5% online discount and free ship even if I pay with my target gift card. It  would automatically deduct 1 cent from the redcard to get free ship and 5% back but now  when I apply GC, it doesn't give me 5% off and charges shipping. My gift card balance covers the entire amount. Online isn't recognizing redcard if gift card is used to pay?
Any trick?

Why not just get a debit card?

why bother with requirements such as minimum balances, daily limits and debit card fees when the red prepaid has none?

I dont even know cash loading works at target location. The last time i loaded was 2 years ago with credit card.

You can connect a debit card.
And it will automatically load from it when you make a purchase.

it deducts 1 cent on all my onlin orders  after gift card is applied. My $30 lasted for  almost  16 months. Does the debit card has fees and requirements like regular bank checking account?

I do that too. The problem is that the max daily load is $200. So if you have no balance on the card account and make a $200+ purchase at target the card doesn't go through. Happened a few times until I realized the reason. And it's those big purchases that I especially want the 5% off.

No its just a debit card that's linked to an existing checking account from any bank. It pulls money out as you use the debit card.
