Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

in store or online where i can apply?
In store, all you need is a check from the account you want to link it to.  You may be able to do it online also I'm not sure.

Wow.  Where did this thread come from?

At least no one can accuse peace123 of not using the search function.

I tried  placing some order online and it used to automatically just leave 1 cent out of any GC. I used to pay and 1 cent will be charged on my redcard to waive the shipping but now entire amount is charged on my GC and thus no free shipping?

Any one noticed this?
Thanks

This really sux. I thought they only closed the 5% loophole with GC . Now unless you pay fully with RedCard , you don't get free shipping right? I have over $1K in GC.

I don't have the Red Debit card but it maybe same with it as well? Red  Debit card card won't help here right?

You can get free shipping as long as the item is paid partially with the red card

I was unable to get it to work.
For example,  the purchase is $8, my saved GC is $300. My saved Red Card has $60 balance.

When I check my Red card and my GC to pay for the order, total amount is charged on my GC and thus no free shipping. It used to be you get charged $5.99 on GC and 1 cent is charged on Red Card and I got free shipping.

I never realized that they used to charge the REDcard even when the gift card could have covered the whole thing. I would always deliberately buy gift cards for just under the amount of the intended Target order.

Now that it seems to be the other way around, why not use this method of yours?

That method only works for free shipping not for the 5% discount

That's incorrect it would charge the entire amount on you gc and still get the discount.

This doesn't seem to work anymore. Now it seems to do something different every time. Sometimes it leaves 1 cent, but that still doesn't get the 5% discount. Sometimes it gives the discount on only part of the order. Sometimes if you use a different gift card it produces different results.

It's very unpredictable.

I would argue that part of this is predictable: you will get 5% on the portion that is charged to the REDcard. If that portion happens to be 1 cent, they still compute the 5% - too bad it rounds down to nothing.

I see that not only you don't get 5% off when paid mostly with GC but now  it is not giving free shipping when paying with  GC.

It used to be you pay with GC and 1 cent of the payment will be deducted from Red card.

So I tried to open the Red Debit card thinking that will be better, but the store  machine asks for a " personal check" to be inserted in to the machine to open a red debit card?

I didn't have check with me so I couldn't get the redcard.
