Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Is it worth switching before SBS though?
$150 right there.
$150 with one soft card?

If going to target.com/prepaidredcard takes you to https://amex.serve.com/prepaidredcard/, shouldn't that mean that this a Serve card which is clearly included in SBS?

I bought using my info and was able to load $500 right away. Registered it for my son and got a screen that they need to verify the info. Then they will send me email confirmation. FM said cash can be withdrawn from ATM for free w temp card.  Will try that.
Manager at the Target I went to said they are rolling it out slowly and they are the guinea pigs. I feel like one, too!

If this is an Amex product do we need to worry about the 'going slow and building up' policy so as not to get F/R'd / shut down?

Indeed, I had the same question for BB and Serve.

+1. Even the clerks at the participating stores barely know how to use
they also have trouble loading AFT at some stores.

Here's a cool map of REDcard availability:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=zaZeFBtuy5B8.kyYIaq26n5m4

Red means they charge $5 fee.
Green means they give the card with no fee.

I'd be happy to volunteer to test activating a card in a non-participating store if someone from a card zone would volunteer to mail one to me.  PM me if you would be so kind...
