Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

How accurate is this?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being least accurate I'd say 0.

Honestly, I think all of us on the forums have a heightened sense of how important we are. Sure if a story makes i to DDMS and to the other blogs it MAY get attention, bur I highly doubt the CC companies are actively monitoring any of the forums.  They know what we know, they know about churning, and for whatever reason they decide to add new methods of it. If and when it goes away it will not be because there's a 200 page thread on FT or here. It will be because they make a business decision to end it. There are at the absolute highest maybe 1,000 dedicated mile earners here (probably less than 200, but im being generous), and maybe 10X that on FT and other sites.  They don't really care what we do when posting online. If it loses them real money then they'll change it, but not because they are reading all our posts.

My 2 cents...

The universe of people reading the blogs compared to the target universe of these products is very small. There is obviously money in it (at least short term) otherwise AMEX would not constantly come out with new versions of these prepaids.

imo, it's more about the manner in which the target employees regard the new 5X/ week traffic and how the customers go about that business.

If it's "us" pros who have been doing this at WM for years and casual, than it's all fine.. but if it's a new DDMS post with a crowd that bombards cs and asks a zillion questions with 1,000 gcs then it will get up to management too fast....

I am confused as I was in a target in NYC on Saturday night and the cashier was asking if anybody wanted to open a Redcard.  I told her I only wanted the Redcard debit card and she insisted several times that the debit card was also available.  You just need to bring a voided check wirh you from you bank account to open it..

The Debit card is not the Prepaid card

correct. They have 3 similar red target types that look the same all near the register together with their gcs, so you need to look to see the work "prepaid".

IMO, it wasn't so smart of target to have 3 products with the same name (credit card, debit card, prepaid card). But I don't work there, so...
