Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Is the temp card now not usable for anyone else?

Can I use the same temp card to register for someone else?

My wife has had several challenging experiences trying to load her permanent RedCard at Target with her Chase SP and then Chase Ink.  First the problem was Chase fraud protection, but we worked through that.   But then she was only able to load $1000.  I don't know what kind of error message came up, but she got frustrated and left.

Being the trooper that she is, she went back the next day, and was only able to load $1000 again.  She tried $1000 several times and the RedBird machine wasn't allowing any more loading. It was not a problem with the charge being declined, but I don't have the specifics of what the error message was.   The cashier or manager said it's limited to $1000/day. (Obviously they don't read DDF.)

I'm hoping this is a fluke at our Target (Watertown, MA).  We were able to load $2500 at a Target in MD earlier in the week.  And no, we have not yet exceeded the $5000/month cap.

Hoping that no one else has this experience.

So how should I pay my chase cc bill?
Pay with one account you have been paying for months or yrs. Don't keep changing the chase cards bill payment source.

Chase shuts down accounts for many reasons and paying bills from difference sources or accounts is one of them. For example If you pay bill from chase checking this time, than with serve or blue bird of someone  the next time,  than   paying from CITI bank checking another time, than from BOA checking another time. If you keep paying from different sources like the example given above, it is suspicious, abnormal behavior for them and your account risks closure!

Ally bank. Free checking reimburses all atm fees, great rates.
Also why are people using bill pay instead of just transferring to bank and then pay?

Chase also doesn't like checking account deposits from many source.  If they close your checking, your cards will also be closed

If you love  your chase cards and want to keep them, you should not do these. try and use a different checking like TCF or any othe checking or  even your local small branch.
