Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

1) when buying the temp card what does the person need to provide?
SSN and birthdate
2) is registration only when i get permanent card?
What do you mean? Again -read the wiki

Go to a computer and register this temporary card.  You can register it to any SS#., regardless of which # you used when buying the temporary card.
They send you a permanent REDcard. (hereafter also known as a RedBird.)
You load these at Target directly with a cc. ( No GCs needed.  )

3) if answer to 2 is yes then is that when i load it?
See above

Just heard rumblings that cc load will end this week. Anyone hear anything of the sort? CS says they keep changing their mind over it.

Heaven forbid!!! Have a friend who was just informed in store when he went to load. They only allowed him 2k instead of 2500 and told him that it may be cash or debit only. This is NY so i dont know how they would even be informed as they dont sell these in NY. The story is suspect but the source is reliable.

Please guys...a little more credit than that. Never call until a good thing is over. Even a relative n00b like me know that. I did read the basics before I dove head first into the game

So your reliable source is reporting unreliable information?  :)

I would like to make the initial in-store activation in NJ today. Can I give totally make up info in the store? Can I use a social that already had BB (and change it when registering online)? Do they ask for ID?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

They scanned my dl and it pulled my info. I know I could have changed it, not sure if they checked again after. Don't think they did.

They will ask for ID when u register. U dont need to give ur ss# or DOB but whatever DOB u use will be required when u register for perm card.

You can't use a different DOB when you register online? So the initial date if birth has to match the social I'm going to use online?
