Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

a friend of mine is in Cleveland now in a target store trying to get a few red cards and the manager is saying that he could only get 1, after telling him to try another one the system didn't let it go through because he already has one, is there anyway around this?
also they are saying that once he gets the card in store he wont be able to transfer it to someone else, is that true?
thanks

Yes and yes. They don't look at the names on the RedCard ime, only in the cc used to pay

Which will just make it a bit more difficult because of the added cost and time in getting the "debit cards" :-)

BTW Shoprite is now carrying Visa and MC $20-$500 loadable GCs for $5.95
Been carrying them for as long as I can remember.

"Q: Can we load Redbird with credit cards at Target?
YES
It is possible that Target has plans to change the register to not allow credit cards, but I don’t think that’s the case."(quote)
am I getting this right: loading a redbird card straight from my cc counts as a purchase!?
nothings impossible- the word itself says Im possible
